¿CONOCES ESTOS DETALLES SOBRE RELOJES?

La primera patente para un reloj de ajedrez se concedió en 1884 a Amandus Schierwater de Liverpool. Estos relojes ya se utilizaban en la mayoría de los torneos en 1886. Ese mismo año, Schierwater y Frisch, de Liverpool, patentaron un reloj de ajedrez que mostraba la hora habitual, pero registraba en esferas separadas el tiempo que ocupaba cada jugador. También indicaba el número de movimientos de la partida y a quién le tocaba jugar. El final del tiempo se anunciaba con el sonido de una campana.

En 1899, H. D. B. Meijer, de los Países Bajos, inventó la bandera que se colocaba en el reloj de ajedrez. Esta bandera, suspendida y dispuesta para pivotar alrededor de la marca de las 11:57 en la esfera, se elevaba al acercarse a las 12 cuando la manecilla de los minutos la empujaba hacia arriba. Esto facilitaba ver el final del tiempo cuando la bandera caía. El uso de banderas tardó unos 20 años en generalizarse.

 Para finalizar, comentar que en 1964, la empresa rusa Kiev Relay and Automatic Works fabricó el primer reloj electrónico de ajedrez.
