Le regaló unos chales de seda y supo que el emperador deseaba un juego de ajedrez.
Al no tener ninguno a bordo, envió órdenes a Cantón para que mandaran un ajedrez.
Cuando éste llegó a la isla, sir Hudson Lowe, el
gobernador, no permitió que le fuera entregado, ya que el rey estaba
ungido con lo que le pareció la corona imperial.
